Relation Between Body Fitness And Body Weight

Some say Body Fitness and body weight are inversely proportional to each other. Some say fitness is not related to weight in any way. Most of the time, you believe what they say because you don?t know the truth. So to explore the truth, let?s go into the science of body weight and Body Fitness and mutually decide the conclusion. 

BMI: 

When body weight and fat contents exceed certain level, you enter into the group of obesity. A person can be called as obese when the Body Mass Index, generally known as BMI, exceeds the certain units. If the body weight in pounds is divided by height in inches and the result is above 30, it is termed as obese. When the result is around 25 to 30 the person is overweight. 

Obese people generally attract diabetes and cardiovascular diseases whereas overweight people are significantly prone to many health problems. 

However checking your Body Fitness with the help of your Body Mass Index is not accurate. A person who is actively involved in weight training and muscle building will have more muscles and lesser fat. Due to the result of this his weight would be equal to or more than overweight people, but cannot be considered unfit. So, you really cannot depend on BMI measurement. 

Shape:

Effecting a person?s fitness also sometimes depends on the place of accumulated fat. If a person has more fats accumulated at or above the waistline, they fall under apple shaped category. These people are more prone to obese related health problems because fats are present around the vital organs of your body. So the Body Fitness level drops down in this case.

Other category is pear shaped, where fats are seen in the hips, rear and thigh area. Here, people attract less diseases as compared to apple shaped but cannot be termed as fit. 

Metabolism:

No individual is exactly similar to other individual. There may be similarity in looks but the internal working is never same. The working of metabolisms differs from person to person. So, if your friend reduces his or her weight very quickly and you spend comparatively more number of hours in gym without or with fewer results, don?t worry. It?s not you but the metabolism is taking time. 

In this case, your lifestyle is more active and healthy than your friend but people call him fit and not you. Isn?t it strange? 

Definitely it is and that?s my whole point. If you exercise regularly and see no signs of any diseases like increased blood pressure, lung capacity, cardiovascular diseases or cholesterol problems, you are healthy and can be termed as fit even if your weight exceeds above normal level. 

So, it is absolutely possible to be physically fit even if you look overweight. However, it is difficult to stay fit for continuously long period if you are obese. Your lifestyle is the only one who can determine the exact relationship between Body Fitness and your Body Weight.
